A delegation team of Bangladesh Tamak Birodhi Jote meet with BRTA (Bangladesh Road Transport Authority) chairman at his office.

BRTA chairman Md. Ayubur Rahman Khan told the BATA team, BRTA will take initiative to implement the tobacco control law. Bus, tempo and motorized transport (under BRTA) is public transport. And public transport is using by women, children and non-smokers. Though we know the passive smoking is also hazards non-smokers. So BRTA save non-smokers from passive smoking.

He also said that, BRTA will discus with bus, tempo owner and driver association and inform them the tobacco control law. I hope that everyone will help us for implementation of this law

 

Graphic Health Warning demanded for Tobacco Products

The present written tobacco health warning is of no use as most of the people in Bangladesh are illiterate. So, graphic health warnings for tobacco products are much needed for mass understanding of the messages regarding the damages done by tobacco.  The demand was made by the Bangladesh Anti-Tobacco Alliance and Madok Drabya-O- Nesha Birodhi Council (Manobik). The human chain took place at Shahbagh in front of the National Museum on 04 April 2009 at 11 a.m.
