World No Tobacco Day
Each year, BATA celebrates World No Tobacco Day (WNTD), 31 May. The events bring together the different BATA member organizations, and many other organizations lending their support to the tobacco control movement.

WNTD 2004
The Bangladesh Anti-Tobacco Alliance (BATA) carried out many activities throughout the country to highlight the issue of tobacco and poverty on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day 2004. These activities included:
- Distributing information throughout the country on the problem of tobacco and poverty, and on other tobacco-related issues such as tobacco control law and the FCTC;
- Carrying out a rally on the morning of the 31st in Dhaka, followed by a human chain to demand passage of a tobacco control law, marching from Sahid Minar to Dhaka University accompanied by a mobile song team; rally participants wore t-shirts with the message “Tobacco Use Increases Poverty”;;
- Rallies and seminars in various other parts of Bangladesh including Chittagong, Barisal, Rangpur, Natore, Satkira, Sylhet, and Rajshahi.

With WHO support, we created 500 t-shirts which we distributed at the rally and sent to BATA member organizations throughout the country.
